Paugh Lake is a freshwater lake situated in the western portion of the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan. Surrounded by forest and interspersed with rocky terrain, the area saw limited settlement compared to more accessible parts of Renfrew County. Nonetheless, the lake supported seasonal logging activity and later became a site for recreational cottages.

There is little formal village development at Paugh Lake, but several cottage roads and shoreline parcels were established during the mid-to-late 20th century. Much of the surrounding land remains Crown-owned or designated for recreational use.

From a surveyor’s perspective, Paugh Lake presents the common challenges of shoreline retracement, including fluctuating water levels and natural features affecting original boundary lines. Lot descriptions are often metes-and-bounds based, with informal cottage developments relying on older survey plans or reference sketches. Original survey monuments may be scarce or disturbed.
