Highlight of the Township of Ross

Ross Township lies along the Ottawa River and includes communities like Foresters Falls and Beachburg. It was surveyed early in the 19th century and benefited from a combination of fertile farmland and river access. The area became a hub for agriculture, milling, and river transport.

Ross also played a role in 19th-century colonization and saw moderate population growth through immigration. Schools, churches, and civic institutions developed steadily, particularly in Beachburg, which became the township’s focal point.

Surveyors in Ross Township work within a well-developed concession grid, though some riverside parcels predate the township’s formal survey and follow French-Canadian river lot configurations. Boundary retracement in Ross may involve resolving fence line discrepancies, interpreting early surveyor field notes, and adjusting for occupation that diverged from patent lines.
