Highlight of the Hamlet of Tramore

Tramore lies on the southern shore of Round Lake in the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards. Established by Irish settlers in the mid-1800s, the village was named after Tramore in County Waterford, Ireland. It developed modestly as a lakeside community with a church, school, post office, and commercial activity tied to both local residents and the increasing number of cottagers.

The scenic beauty of Round Lake, coupled with the presence of timber and accessible transportation routes, allowed Tramore to sustain a unique hybrid identity — part pioneer settlement, part resort village. The village played a modest role in supporting nearby logging operations, but as timber waned, recreational use of the area intensified. Although services have since diminished, the area remains populated seasonally by cottagers and families with long-standing ties.

Land surveyors working in Tramore often engage with mixed legal descriptions: original township lots adapted for recreational use, shoreline encroachments, and subdivided lands without formal plans. Crown shoreline reserves, irregular lot shapes, and fluctuating water levels at Round Lake require detailed analysis of historical surveys, water rights, and occupation patterns. Seasonal road access and informal lot development introduce additional retracement challenges.
