Highlight of the Hamlet of Woermke

Woermke is a minor locality near Eganville, likely named after a pioneer family or early farmstead. It appears in older land registry documents and on some regional maps but never developed into a formal village with civic services.

This area formed part of the agricultural hinterland supporting Eganville’s mills and markets. A few family farms persisted into the modern era, and the name continues in use as a geographic reference.

Cadastral work in Woermke involves standard concession lot surveys with infrequent severance activity. Surveyors may encounter poorly maintained boundaries, fence-line discrepancies, and limited monumentation. Local oral history can be helpful in clarifying long-standing property lines.
